1977 Northern New Jersey Pond 23+ Inches
Fishing at the usual pond spot as a 13 year old kid during a gray spring chilly day. No bites for about 2 hours. It started drizzling, then 2 casts for 2 catches on a rusty old spinner I found on the road.
The smaller bass was caught first - the big one was second and took quite a while to bring in.
When the large smallmouth bass got exhausted I towed it to shore and quickly brought it in. I was so nervous of the fish thrashing and falling back into the water, I bear hugged it and walked yards into the woods before I would remove the hook.
My father wrote "23+ inches" on the back of the photo.
