Freshwater fishing gear consists of the things needed for any and all fishing expeditions.
Gear for fishing includes items such as rods, reels and tackle boxes. Tackle is also categorized as gear, such as lures, line, sinkers and floats. Other equipment like depth finders and fish locators are classified as fishing gear too.
Most fishing gear can be used for a variety of different angling techniques. But, there are specialty items made specifically for certain applications such as bass gear, catfish gear, trout gear, fly fishing gear, panfish gear, and saltwater gear.
It's smart for a fisherman to carry all the necessary gear one would need to have when going up against the great outdoors, especially when planning a long trip.
Even if you just plan to be out on the water for a couple of hours, always expect the unexpected. You never know if the elements of mother nature decide to take a strange and twisted turn for the worse, or when and if some freak accident may occur.
As most people are aware of, and a rule that I live by, it's better to have something and not need it, than to not have something and to be caught without it.
You can shop around and buy new freshwater fishing gear at
wholesale
and at discount prices. I have a good habit of price comparing and
checking around for items on clearance when shopping for new fishing
toys. Although brand new gear is usually great, you can come across
some outstanding used fishing equipment as well.
I'm not going to get technical about the term “gear.” But, to help keep things a little more organized within this website, I want to associate gear as being items one would bring along, yet not necessarily something needed to catch fish with. I will categorized gear as being things like clothing, packs, bags, waders, etc.
Yes, fishing gear is considered as being all things needed for
angling. However, specific articles about fishing tackle and fishing
equipment can be found in their appropriate sections throughout the
website.
