Me Fighting The Stingray
The Big Old Stingray
I was out swimming in the ocean in Gulf Shores, Alabama on a very hot, summer vacation day, and decided I'll just cast a line out there with a piece of squid on it. I'm about 20 feet out there in the water and cast it, and let it sit in the water.
About 15 minutes later I started to reel line in for another cast, and there was a lot of slack on it (due to all of the waves dragging my line towards me), and all of the sudden my line started squealing. I came running out of the water in fear that it was a shark.
And it was pretty amazing pulling him up there and knowing that this beast stingray was what I had fought for over a half hour. After I had pulled him in and taken a few pictures I had to cut the line because the stinger was about three foot long and flopping all over the place.
By the end of all my hard work, I had about 100 people crowded around me. This is something that I probably will never experience again!
