Are you addicted to fishing? A freshwater fishing fanatic? A pure enthusiast of the sport?
Welcome to our club because I am too.
How do you know for sure if you are a fishing addict? And is it a problem?
First, it's only a problem if it gets in the way of your personal life, and effects your priorities. As long as your bills are paid, and it doesn't cause a negative ripple effect on you, your job, nor your family, then all should be well.
I've come up with a few things that might constitute as being a definite fanatic of fishing. Most already know that they are addicted. However, some fishermen are in denial.
A hard core fishing enthusiast might consume themselves with the following...
Spending the majority of the day thinking about fishing. Such as...
Perhaps you scour through fishing books, magazines, the internet, videos and television shows.
The one thing that is on every angler's mind is the dream of catching the big one.
Many of us can't seem to shake off the thought about those big fish that got away.
These are the things that drive us to wanting to get back out on the water. We just can't wait. Because the confidence of catching that lunker is right there within our grasp. We just know it's bound to happen, right?
Not only do we thrive on landing the fish of our lifetime, we want to catch a ton of fish every time we get out on the water.
If you're like me, you may tend to spend about an hour making your “last cast,” then your next last cast, another last cast, and just one more last cast...
Does most of the above apply to you? Then YES, You Are Absolutely A Fishing Fanatic! An addict of fishing. Addicted to the love of this awesome sport. You have a huge passion for fishing.
Is there an anonymous fishing addiction hotline number? Therapy? Counseling? Meetings? I don't know and I don't care. Aside from my family, fishing is what I enjoy. It's just like therapy... a positive outlet but a good habit to have.
