5 1/2 Pound Largemouth Bass

Hi, my name is "Mrs. Big Bass Lady Catcher" and I'm from the Land of Largemouth Bass Fishing City. =) On May 11, 2011 I decided to stop and cast a couple times on Kent Lake in Oakland County, Michigan on my way home from work.


The weather was perfect - light wind, sunny, and around 70 degrees, and the water was very calm. There were a couple of lily pads coming up, that's what I like to see.

So I casted my Strike King Spinner bait (red and gold in color) a little past the lily pads. As soon as I started to reel, he smashed it! He started trying to go deep into the lilly pads, but I was not going to let that happen... I kept my rod tip up and continued to reel until I got that monster.

He was 22 1/2 inches long and 5 1/2 pounds. He is my biggest largemouth bass so far.

I have been fishing since I was 4 years old, so about 30 years now. My passion is fishing!! I have won contests and was the winner of the Biggest Large Mouth Bass Contest at Bass Pro Shops 2010... very exciting!

I also had a wish since I was a little girl to get a chance to meet my idol Kevin Van Dam... I did just that this year, and had my picture taken with him too. I have had a great year and look forward to many more.

That's a nice bass! You really don't catch keepers like that one very often! The biggest bass I have ever caught we're two 7 pounders. And that was pure luck, they were swimming together along with a couple of their buddies. And they were all very hungry!!
